Yamaha YZF-15 or simply Yamaha R15 is an entry sport bike that brings a modern technology on a 150cc engine.
R15 is one of the most powerful bike in its class, compared to CBR150R, GSX-R150, and some other bikes.
In my country, Yamaha equipped R15 with Inverted fork on the front or we call it often as Upside Down fork. This special feature makes the R15 significantly prettier than the rivals. More, the design that still one language with the oldest brother; YZF-R1 especially in the rear parts, makes this bike become so interesting on the street.
Now, let’s talk about the feel when I am riding this R15. For the note, the one that I ride is 2017 version, there is no differences with the 2018 model except for the colors.
Yamaha R15, although is only an entry bike, but the design and dimension makes this bike comparable with 250cc bikes for impression.
Everytime some R15 are passing me, I always look to the bike, it’s just; so beautiful, just like the YZF-R1.
Dude, this Baby R1 is very easy to ride. Maybe because it’s so light? No, not just that!
The chassis is a redesigned delta-box from the first gen Yamaha R15/Vixion. It’s a bit larger, and better. The swing arm is also a banana arm model that gives the best handling quality.
And, don’t forget about the Inverted Fork on the front!
Passing other bikes and cars is so easy. Even if you want to passing often in a crowded city roads, R15 can manage that.
This is a sport bike, if it’s not comfortable to ride, it’s understandable.
But not for R15. This bike, even though the handlebar is low, I don’t get so tired after a long ride with R15. There are some tricks if you don’t want to get tired; wear a glove, boot shoes, and stretch your muscle every couple minutes.
Yes, it is not the most comfort bike, in fact, it’s far from that. But if you love your bike, you will forget the word “comfort”, just fun!
I ride this R15 in a crowded roads eften, and I can say that the R15 engine is just a perfect combination!
It is very fuel efficient, very efficient! And it still gives us the perfect acceleration in low RPM and high, thanks to the VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) that activated around 6500 RPM.
Stop and Go in a city is very powerful, and for high speed is also more than enough. And it’s efficient!
You can look the data of acceleration for the R15 (and rivals) here.
The feeling is not that far from the original 3C11 engine, only it’s faster and better in almost all area. For the low speed, I prefer the classic 3C11 engine because it’s (feels) more torque and more comfort to ride, but the feeling is still familiar.
If you already get usual with 3C11 engine, then you will easily get friendly with the Yamaha R15 v3.0.
The engine is very fun when you pull the throttle higher, and then the VVA active and you will feel that the new engine is just awesome, thanks Yamaha!
I seriously recommend Yamaha R15 to any of you who want to ride a small but powerful bike. It’s fast, easy to ride, so pretty, and it’s very fuel efficient. I can get 45 Kpl easily.
Other bike that you can consider is Suzuki GSX-R150 that is also very powerful, agile, but there are quite many differences with R15 in term of features and characters.
Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0? Perfect combination for me!
